Event Description

INIA renewed its agreement of collaboration with The International Longevity Centre-India (ILC-I) for the setting up of INIA’s Satellite Centre for the various countries within the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries. The Satellite Centre, which was first established with ILC-I in 2003, covers the following countries:  Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The renewal of the agreement between INIA and ILC-I was signed in Pune, India by ILC-I Executive Director Anjali Raje and INIA’s Deputy Director Rosette Farrugia-Bonello.

The aim and function of INIA’s Satellite Centres is to promote INIA’s training programmes as well as to disseminate information on ageing among countries in the region. This is to be achieved by promoting advocacy through INIA’s publications and other UN material on ageing, and in turn increase capacity building within the field of ageing.
