International Post-Graduate Diploma in Gerontology and Geriatrics (P.G. Dip.Ger.) and Interntional Masters Degree in Gerontology and Geriatrics (M. Ger), European Centre of Gerontology and Geriatrics, University of Malta

The one year academic Course leading to the Post-graduate Diploma in Gerontology and Geriatrics is run by the European Centre of Gerontology and Geriatrics, University of Malta. The next course will be held between October 2008 - June 2009.

The Course is aimed at producing qualified and trained personnel engaged in the provision and planning of services to older persons in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors. The emphasis is on giving a better understanding of the various aspects of Ageing and the needs of older persons.

The Course offers a unique opportunity for systematic multi-disciplinary training in a wide range of areas in the field of ageing. It provides opportunities for correlation of theory and practise, and experience in innovative practices, service planning and delivery. It is designed to train individuals so that they will promote the multiplier effect in their respective countries by becoming agents of change through the dissemination of the information and knowledge acquired.

On obtaining a B grade in the Post-graduate Diploma, a candidate can register for a Master's degree in Gerontology and Geriatrics. This is based on research work carried out under supervision in the candidate's own country.

The Course is only offered to candidates who have a university degree recognised by the University of Malta. Tuition for the one year programme amounts to US$ 8,000. A number of partial scholarships covering half of the tuition costs are available to suitable candidates. Candidates have to raise funds to cover the flight, accommodation and half board tuition fees.
